Winged Valor
pays tribute to the machine credited with 1,294 allied aerial victories.
As the sun sets across the war torn countryside of northern France,
British Sopwith Camels return to their airbase from another day’s
sortie. As they skim the countryside they pass above the heads of allied
infantrymen, symbolically heralding in the end of one era and the
beginning of another. Among the flying machines that helped to usher in
this new age, the Sopwith Camel is undoubtedly Sopwith's best known design
and arguably the best British scout aircraft of the First World War. |
