Welcome to Logstown
In 1749, Ensign Celeron de Blainville descended the Allegheny to the Ohio to lay claim to the land for France.   About 12 miles downstream from present day Pittsburgh lay Logstown, a large permanent Shawnee village.  They were friends of the English, and didn't appreciate Priests.  This print shows the unfriendly welcome given to Jesuit Priest Father Bonnecamp as he enters Logstown for the first time..
