In 2005, the Texas Ranger Association Foundation Board of Directors decided to honor the heritage of the Texas Rangers by commissioning an original oil painting by a prominent western artist.  This oil painting was to depict a Texas Ranger event.  An extensive search was conducted and Mr. Bruce Greene was selected as the artist to research Ranger history and select an event to bring to life on canvas.  Mr. Greene chose the reading of the "Texas Ranger Code" as his topic.
