Benton The Benton Steaming Past the White Cliffs in Montana, 1878 The Benton, a spoonbowed mountain steamer, was built near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Without cargo she drew only 18 inches of water, and drew only 4 ft of water when loaded with just under 400 tons of cargo. She was a workhorse on the Upper Missouri.
