Military Aviation Art
Sam spotted this extraordinary Waco UMF-5 at
Oshkosh 2005 and decided it was just too pretty to pass by. Prints were
produced from an original created in colored pencil. The close-up front
view captures all the details of the Jacobs engine and Sensenich
propeller. After finishing the piece, Sam discovered the great story
behind this airplane: it’s a reproduction built from a set of plans over
a 12-year period by John and Belinda Hudec of Oklahoma. John personally
did all the welding, woodwork, compound aluminum metal forming, leather
sewing, engine buildup, and covering. The Hudecs were honored that Sam
chose to make a work of art from their labor of love. |
