In a perfectly placed ambush a Patriot relief columnn under Gen. Nicholas Herkimer is ambushed near Fort Stanwix, New York by a combined force of Loyalists and Indians. In one of the bloodiest battles of the American Revolution the Americans barely hold off the British.
