Labor and Management

It is said that a town could not be started without a blacksmith... everything from chains, wagon parts, even spoons would be fabricated at the blacksmiths shop. Here a smith in the Virginia colony is making a basic building material - nails. He strikes the hot iron with his hammer held in his right hand ( labor) and controls his material with his left hand (management).
