| Military Aviation Art By the late-1960s, the Air Force needed a replacement for the aging, AC-47D "Spooky". In 1968, Project Gunship III was initiated using the Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar transport as the airframe platform. Because of the urgent need for gunships in Vietnam, the Air Force decided to create two models of the AC-119. The first, represented in this image, was designated the AC-119G "Shadow". This was the first of two commissioned pieces by the AC-119 Gunship association. Image size 16 x 24 |
