Edge The Cutting Edge composition records changes John Deere made in the late 1950’s due to decreasing Ag markets. The search directed the company to product diversity. In 1959, Deere’s Product Engineering, began experimental work on a lawn & garden tractor. Based on 130 years of John Deere reputation for high-quality, the team created a complete new product line - Consumer Products. 1963 Deere’s Horicon Works in Wisconsin promoted the 110 Lawn & Garden Tractor into the family home market. The 110 was created with variator drive in series with a 3 or 4-speed transmission. The principal of this variable-speed V-belt drive had been proven in Deere’s combines. Sales of the 110 tractor reached 22,280 units by 1966. Deere continues to lead industry standards in product development. Thirty-five years later, John Deere introduced the LT166 no-shift, 16 hp tractor into the Consumer Product line-up. The Cutting Edge original composition by R. L. Crouse was created in Watercolor. No white paint was used. The white you see is the white of the paper. |
