A Record for Russo Before the P-51 Mustang, there was the A-36, a USAAF ground attack plane.  Its performance was pretty uninspiring with its Alison engine, but that didn't stop Michael Russo from shooting down an Me-109, on his way to being the only A-36 ace in history.
