Pistol Whipping In June of 1944, Capt. Arthur Fiedler of the 317th Fighter Squadron (flying P-51's) tangled with a Me-109 over Ploesti, Rumania. Fiedler scored several hits before his guns jammed, but the Messersmidt flew on. The German pilot decided he had had enough when Fiedler pulled his service revolver, and bailed out. |
