Parley is Heard The Continental Army had become a well trained & experienced force by 1781. Many Regiments were fairly well equipped, and could now go head to head with British regulars. Most soldiers could by now recognize commands & signals given by the drum, and a particularly joyous sound heard across the field at Yorktown was the beating of Parley by an English drummer...hope for the fighting to end.
